With the development of the industrial automation, Automatic control technology has an increasingly important role in industrial production. Automated production system is one of the important components of the automatic control technology. The MPS(Modular Production System) is a typical automated production system, which is composed by mechatronics, automatic control technology and robotics, and it is suitable for universities to set up a Comprehensive experiments. In order to increased the ability of the students to design and hands we design the equipment of the MPS.This design included the MPS hardware selection, communication systems design. Automatic production line is monitored by software called "KINGVIEW", the animation was made by "KINGVIEW" software to reflects the processing. A Small engraving machine was added to the Processing unit which Increase the flexibility of MPS.A software SIMATIC STEP7is used to control hardware and sub-controlling platforms, configure network which is realized by DP master and slaves, and manipulate information exchange between sub-controlling platforms, and it as a basis for the establishment of the monitoring system.Finally, on the redevelopment of the MPS system debugging, from manual debugging to the automatic control, and the redevelopment designed to achieve the desired results.
