As the extension of H.264AVC(Advanced Video Coding), H.264SVC(ScalableVideo Coding) can provide spatial scalability, temporal scalability and qualityscalability without losing the efficiency of the encoding. And all those scalabilities willmake SVC a lot easier to deal with user terminals of different processing power anddifferent network structures.Compared with H.264AVC, H.264SVC has higher adaptability and can fulfilmore applications and transmission environments.But in the error-prone channels, error can hardly be avoided, for the predictivevideo coding, a little error will cause great problem. So it is necessary to use someerror control technologies.Error concealment is part of the error control technologies, which uses theredundancy of the stream and the feature of human eyes to conceal the awry videostream, and will never increase the overhead of the encoding and transmission.According to the above, research of the H.264SVC error concealment has someimportant theoretical value and practical significance.After studying the basics of H.264AVC and H.264SVC, the following workcomposed of three parts have been done in this thesis:1.Research of the error concealment of SVCInto learning the error concealment of the SVC standard, according to the officialSVC reference software JSVM(Joint Scalable Video Model), a set of simulationexperiments have been done. Compared to Open SVC Decoder, the test results andanalysis show that error concealment worked necessarily.2.Improving the error concealment method for the Open SVC DecoderAfter studying the opensource SVC video player Open SVC Decoder, improve itserror concealment and add error concealment for frame loss. The experimental resultsshow that the expanded Open SVC Decoder has a better error concealment outcome.The achievements of this part have been used in our lab’s project.3.Design and realize a streaming server supporting the SVC format The research of the real time streaming protocols has been done, and themodification of transmission libarary LiveMedia also has been done to make it supportthe SVC streaming. With the Open SVC Decoder together, designed and realized astreaming system of SVC, the video stream of SVC can be transmitted and playedclearly and smoothly within the system.Based on the streaming system, an error concealment module has been added, theresults proved the effectiveness of this module.
