With the increasing complexity of urban traffic system, the demand of vehicle positioning accuracy has been increasing. GPS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technology was used in the previous vehicle navigation system for vehicle location. While in the modern metropolis, the positioning accuracy was greatly reduced because of the shelter of Trees, overpasses, buildings, which will often lead to GPS signal unlock and multipath effects, etc. Dead reckoning system is a strong complementarity of the GPS technology due to the good independence. The GPS/DR integrated navigation technology was used for the improvement of the previous vehicle navigation system in this paper. A practicle, high-precision and low-cost vehicle navigation and positioning system was designed.The main work of this paper is as follows:(1)The demestic and foreign research status of the GPS/DR integrated navigation technology was studied, and the complexity and cost of this system was reduced under the precondition of ensuring the accuracy and reliability. The car navigation system was designed with the processor STM32of Contex-M3as the core processor.(2) The module was debugged based on the hardware platform. The chip data acquisition methods of the accelerometer and gyroscope was designed, according to which the sensor data was acquisited.(3) Design, program the DR and GPS/DR integrated navigation algorithm.(4)The results of on-site experiment show that this system has the advantages of good reliability and high precision.
