In order to improve compatibility and recognition accuracy of the system, andenhance the degree of automation in detection and elimination of short cigarettes, theshort smoke detection system is designed in this paper. The system is installed under theflues of cigarette making machine to detect and remove single short smoke before thecigarette is fixed into the module box. There are lots of problems in existing detectionsystems such as low accuracy of removed, poor compatibility and stability, huge wasteand sensitivity to environment, which is urgent to deal with in this system.The capacitive sensor and field programmable logical gate array (FPGA) is applied toshort cigarette automatic detection and elimination system in this paper. The systemadopts a high-precision and high-sensitivity capacitance sensor as detection devicethrough analysis of classification and characteristics of sensors. The hardware platformis constructed by adopting modular design.In hardware platform, data judgment andinterface control are realized by programming of FPGA. The parameters of datajudgment are collected by front-end capacitive sensor after AD transform. The system ismore flexible,capable to adapt to the complex environment and significantly improvesits stability, reliability, removed rates and accuracy of removed.After simulation, modules joint testing and field debugging, the test results meetexpectations and its performance has been greatly improved under the hardware andsoftware of this system working properly.
