Analysis And Design Of English Testing System

With the development of Internet technology, it becomes a kind of exploration to usecomputers as the tools for English testing. It breaks through the traditional educationexamination pattern and caused test topic, methods, requirements and evaluation to changegreatly. The scientific and standardized requirements for English teaching, testing andevaluating continuously improve. In addition, the important task that we must be confrontedwith as followings: how to manage test papers efficiently; how to improve the quality andefficiency of setting a question; how to ensure the validity of educational measurement,reliability and great accuracy; how to deduce the intensity of work caused for teachers byassigning questions.This paper mainly provides a systematic analysis of English study, examination andevaluation and designs an English Testing System. The system includes three models definedin object-oriented techniques and specifically, they are Organization, Function andInformation models respectively. It defines some roles in the Organization Model, such asteachers, students, teaching affairs unit and maintenance staff of the system, etc. In theFunction Model, we analyze the main business circuits of English testing. The main businessobjects of the system are defined by Unified Modeling Language in the Information part.The distributed system based on B/S has been constructed by synthetic analyzingEnglish testing. It has four layers and they are user, web, business and data layer. In user layer,the system offers a browser service. The system conducts the inquire demand and forms aweb page In web layer. And then in business layer, the system tries to achieve all the businessobjects given by Web layer. As the bottom layer of the system, the Data part supports theonline testing and manages to conduct all the data in the system.The system designed in this paper meets the basic use requirements, greatly increases theteachers’ work efficiency and reduces the workload of the teacher. But there are somedeficiencies still need improve in the future.
