With the maturation of wireless sensor network(WSN), there is an urgent requirement of real-time processing of events generated in WSN. Since event stream processing has to handle huge bulks of events occurring frequently in real time and it is so impossible to put event data into the limited memory, there the arise many fundamental research problems. In this dissertation, after the requirements are carefully analyzed, a brand-new event processing model is proposed, and the optimization and pattern matching algorithm in this model are then studied.On the basis of formal definition of event,event stream and pattern matching for event stream and some implementation knowledge, an event stream processing language is derived from continuous query processing. And, the language is very easy to use. For the requirements of pattern matching of event stream, a regular expression language which based on the combination of two classic processing models is proposed to express event stream patterns In this dissertation. Since regular expressions have the same computing ability as finite-state automaton, the pattern matching can be done with DFA and hence the automaton construction algorithm is studied. And the pattern matching method in current research is extended to support customize event pattern.This paper presents a prototype of event stream processing(ESP) system, including the overall structure of the ESP system, the internal relationships between the various components, and presentation of the event within the ESP system, and the processing model etc.Finally, the research work of this paper promote good social values.
