As the important part of the modern logistics technology. AutomatedStorage/Retrieval System has the advantage of highly utilization of space and powerfulproductivity of storage/retrieval and could be controlled by computers for automaticcontrol of conveying cargoes, which contribute to that it satisfies the demands ofmodern management of enterprises.Due to the scarcity of the land and other reasons like the rise of the land prices, theutilization of space of the Automated Storage/Retrieval System with fixed shelves is stillunable to meet the requirements of enterprises. Many people who have a goodunderstanding of the conception of the dynamic shelves point out that AutomatedStorage/Retrieval System with movable shelves have obvious superiority than thosewith ifxed shelves. Therefore, the research of this paper focuses on the AutomatedStorage/Retrieval System with movable shelves to meet the needs of the market. For the Automated Storage/Retrieval System with movable shelves, the intensiveautomatic shelves are important components of it because the optimization of the shelfscheduling is a signiifcant way to improve the efficiency of the AutomatedStorage/Retrieval System. This paper gives the details of the intensive automatic shelf system design andrealization. The system is controlled by advanced PLC controller, using inverter toadjust the speed of the motor by changing the frequency and encoder to detect thelocation of the shelves. It has two control methods-manual control and automaticcontrol, and achieves automatic variable-speed operation. In the aspect of the shelfmanagement, this paper designs a PC management system based on Delphidevelopment platform and gives the details of the system realization, including therealization of data management, shelf scheduling and monitoring, and animatedsimulation. In the study of the shelf scheduling optimization, this paper uses the mathematical modeling way to turn the optimization problem of the shelf scheduling into the travelingsalesman problem, and using the basic genetic algorithm and the improved geneticalgorithm this paper proposed to solve the problem by computer simulation. Bycomparing the simulation results, we can see that the improved genetic algorithm hasobvious advantages in the convergence rate and convergence results of the objectivefunction. In this paper, a part of control procedures of the shelves has been given. Bysimulating running in the lab, the shelf system works steadily and safely, the positioningsystem is accurate, and achieves the purpose of the design.
