Petri nets are a kind of graphical modeling tools. Due to their intuition in graphics modeling and preciseness in theory analysis, they are widely used for discrete event dynamic systems, such as communication network systems, computer systems, mechanical manufacturing systems, to model and analyse. This thesis combines the object-oriented ideas with the basic theory of Petri nets to develop a visual tool of Petri nets and the simulation of the flexible manufacturing systems.A PNT is a type of files to represent the information of Petri nets. Given two PNT files, a kind of visual tools of Petri nets is developed by using the idea of object-oriented programming and CSharp languages in the environment of Microsoft Visual Studio2008. A Petri net model of discrete event dynamic systems can be built and the corresponding3D models can be loaded through this tool. Meanwhile, the tool can load and show the information of PNT file and display dynamically the current sequence of enabled transitions and the current enabled transitions. The main contributions of this thesis include three parts. First, the basic theory of Petri nets and the development technology of Direct3D is introduced. It also descries the theory of quaternion and situation of relevant Petri nets software packages. Second, the function of each module and its implementation in Petri net visualization tool is mainly discussed. Finally, it completes the simulation of the corresponding models of FMS given two Petri nets and displays dead lock phenomena that the Petri nets have. This work realizes the interface of graphic simulation combining the2D and3D and shows directly the relationship between FMS and Petri net models. It is of practical significance to the process of automated manufacturing system simulation. Meanwhile, it also shows the superiority of the Petri net modeling.
