Radar transmitter is a main part of the active radar. Its mission is to provide the whole machine with high power requirements of the RF signal. Automatic control and protection system of radar transmitter is an important component of the modern radar transmitter. It plays with controlling transmitter program, automatic monitoring and fault protection in lunch system. The performance of automatic control and protection system immediate impacts the transmitter’s stability, reliability and effective performance.According to the system structure principle and characteristics of a radar transmitter, the paper designed and developed the transmitter automatic control and protection system based on advanced PLC technology. First of all, we determined the total design scheme of automatic control and protection system on account of the transmitter system’s working principle and control requirements. Then we had a research of function realization scheme, sequential control flow and control program development method. We chose Omron PLC CP1L series as a core controller and designed a radar transmitter system’s sequential control and fault circuit testing protection function. The sequential control function is to realize the transmitter timing start up, shut and emergency boot. We used the order function as the main line, and used logical relation between the functions of the parallel as the program development’s general design method. The fault circuit testing protection function is to realize many spot detection of the transmitter many parameter’s key elements and the corresponding fault alarm and emergency handling. The paper expounded the key code about delay control, function interlock and eliminate interference involved in the program. At last, we listed the complete control program code.Compared with the traditional relays, MCU automatic control and protection system, this automatic control and protection system’s hardware implementation is simple, realized more control function and more stable performance. The design and implementation method has a good reference for the transmitter automatic control and protection system design with PLC.
