LTE-Advanced technology is the candidate plan for the next mobilegeneration-IMT-Advanced (IMT-Advanced: International MobileTelecommunication-Advanced). A couple of key technologies have been adopted, such asCA (Carrier Aggregation), Enhanced UL/DLMIMO, CoMP (Coordinated Multi-PointTransmission), Relay, Enhanced Inter-cell Interference Coordination for HeterogeneousNetwork and etc. The capacity and the data rate of the LTE-Advanced cell are enhanceddramatically with the help of these new technologies, at the same time, they improve theusers performance which are in the cell edge, thus meet the increasing demand of the highdata speed in the future telecommunication system.3GPP(3rdGroup Partnership Plan) is now doing the research of the LTE-Advancedstandard, up to3GPP RAN164meeting on November,2011, the companies have not reachthe consensus about the standards, moreover, there are some issues which need solving.This thesis is concerned with the Relay and CoMP technologies and mainly focus on thehigher layer techniques of Relay including Handover problems, MME selection problemsand Head compression problems in the PDCP layer.Then CoMP technology is discussed, including the principle and the category of CoMP,and the simulation proves that CoMP can significantly improve the system behavior.Finally, the limited feedback in CoMP is concerned. A novel kind of method is proposedbased on the tradition limited feedback in MIMO system, which can set a proper thresholdaccording to the system and decrease the limited feedback bits.
