Microstrip antenna become a desirable candidate because of its compact size,lowprofile, low weight, and ease to fabricate and be integrated with other microwavecircuits. Therefore, dual-band microstrip antennas have been intensively investigated inthis thesis. There are many publications on dual-band microstrip antenna elementalready. However, the antennas with big Frequency Ratio (FR) range still be the point inthe future research. The research on dual-band arrays, especially with big frequencyratio is under developing up to now. In practice, such kinds of dual-band arrays are veryimportant for radar, wireless communication system and so on.The aim and meaning of this paper are introduced in the first part of the thesis. Aftera brief introduction of its fundamental application and development history, themicrostrip antenna and its analysis methods have been proposed. Then a noveldual-band microstrip antenna with big FR is designed and analysis.Besides, the configuration consisting of microstrip slot and patch elements operatingat UHF band and X band respectively is used as the basic structure for the UHF/Xdual-band microstrip antenna, after the rigorous analysis of several kinds of designschemes. Then, the scanning ability and radiation patterns of the array have beenproposed. Finally, the results are put forward, which illustrate that the antenna array isable to efficiently operate at proper bands with good performance.
