Wireless ad hoc network is a new-style network composed of a group ofcooperating wireless mobile terminals with transceivers. It works by using thedistributed management technology without the fixed infrastructure. It is aself-organizing system and can be configurated rapidly. Due to the characteristics ofnetworking flexibility, mobility, survivability, being deployed rapidly and the maximumand completely seamless, continuous connection, ad hoc network, hotspot of research, has been investigated by many countries. In recent years, with the popularization of the motor vehicle and improvement ofvehicle intelligent, vehicle communication system has achieved great development. Inthis context, the thesis focuses the vehicular ad hoc network and discusses its routingprotocols.Vehicular Ad-hoc Network is one of the new research branches of Ad hoc.Because of the unique locomotion mode, the routing protocols of traditional ad hocnetwork cannot work well in the vehicular ad hoc networks. Based on the service modeand locomotion characteristic of vehicular ad hoc networks, we proposed aservice-orient distributed routing protocol (SDRP). It builds route by reusing pathswhich have already detected by previous service discovery, and effectively integratesservice discovery and routing establishment process, which makes it unnecessary to usespecial service discovery protocol over routing protocol. In order to adapt to the rapidchange of the vehicle network topology, we do use the distributed routing maintenancemechanism that nodes along the established route try to maintain the integrality andvalidity of local links to insure the success of entire routing. At the same time, in orderto solve the partition problem of ad hoc network, this thesis has discussed astore-to-retransmit scheme. In last part, we examine the feasibility and validity of the routing protocol bysimulations. Compared with traditional ad hoc network routing protocols, this methodcan get better performance in the vehicular wireless ad hoc network in which the nodesmove fast.
