As the important front section of the whole multimedia monitoring system, monitoring nodes are responsible for experimental data acquisition, processing and transmission, human-machine interface part. After the full analysis of the moitoring system development trends, in my subject the research of monitor node is focused on. Then a design method of digital multimedia monitoring node will be present based on a multimedia applications processors Z228(ARM926EJ kernel), embedded Linux and network communication technology.Software development is the key in the article. After analyzing the functional requirements of multimedia monitor nodes, the paper mainly discussed some points as follows:1. The structure and establishment of the C/S model in the whole monitoring system, and as a server, realizes that how to deal with concurrent requests, which means one-to-many communication.2. Using the programming method of Object-Oriented improves codes management and control of software.3. Using multi-thread technolog realizes the implementation of concurrent tasks as well as event-driving and data-sharing during threads.4. The remote communication protocol between monitoring nodes and controller is established.5. By drawing up485communication protocol, the paper implements communication between subsystem and the microcontroller.6. By analyzing the factors affecting the quality of audio and video, including network bandwidth and codec efficiency, the article get the corresponding experimental result.Through the above analysis, the network communication model between server and client is set up. And then in this model, taking wards and the nursing station syetem as the application background, experiment tested the functions of ward calls, hanging up and the state detection. From experimental results, the system has good quality for muitimedia communication, which can meet the needs of medical calling syetem.
