In recent years, with the rapid development of cellular mobile communication technology, the location of mobile terminals becomes much more important, consequently, cellular wireless location technology draws on increasing attention. Among all, with pretty advantages, the mobile terminal location technology based on fingerprint positioning has been intensively studied. At present, the fingerprint positioning technology has been widely used and popularized in GSM system, while in3G networks, there is barely such commercial system providing similar positioning information. To this end, this paper focus on the study of fingerprint positioning technology, based on which, a fingerprint positioning system in WCDMA network is designed, and the various functions of monitoring center are implemented.Firsrly, based on reading large quantity of references, the merits and demerits of positioning system in3G network are summarized, as well as the current study and application status of fingerprint positioning technology in celluar network and wireless local network is introduced.Secondly, against the weakness of current fingerprint positioning algorithms in3G networks, a fingerprint positioning system in WCDMA network is designed, and through the analysis of WCDMA network architecture, combined with the characteristic of a fingerprint positioning, the architecture, constituent and workflow are detailed.Thirdly, the fingerprint positioning algorithms is deeply studied, four fingerprint algorithms simulated in MATLAB platform are introduced. Based on the research and analysis the performance and computational complexity of the four typical fingerprint location algorithms, the fingerprint data acquisition method in location center is detemined and WKNN algorithm is selected as location algorithm.Then, after the demand analysis of positioning center, its software exploitation environment is defined, and positioning center system is designed, including offline and online phase. Based on which, the various functions of positioning center is achieved. System management has realized the modification of the user name and password. The acquisition of the fingerprint data, data-import, data processing and the view of the data table are completed at the offline stage. Short message sending, receiving and positioning has been realized at the online stage.Later, combined with hardware terminals, the prototype demonstration system based on self fingerprint positioning is established, and under WCDMA network environment, fingerprint database has been established by collecting test data, online positioning experiments has been completed. Analysis on the system test, demonstration experiments and positioning results, this systerm turns out to be feasible.
