Knowledge base is the core part of the intelligent tutoring system. Since Ontology and ontology technology were introduced into the computer field, the techniques and methods of constructing the knowledge base has been improved at a large extent, become more convenient and mature. In this study, using a protege software and employing the appropriate building techniques and methods discussed the construction of ontology-based the knowledge base of oxido-reduction.This article is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduced three aspects of the origin and significance of this study. The second chapter discussed the theory on knowledge base and the review about teaching-domain knowledge base, and described the knowledge representation and two kinds of knowledge representation used in this study, concept maps and ontological knowledge representation and discusses the superiority of knowledge representation of ontology. In the third chapter introduced the composition of the ontology, tools and language of building ontology, and establish the links between ontology and knowledge base. The fourth chapter is the practical part of this study, which confirmed the method and technical route of building knowledge base about oxido-reduction, and stated the process of constructing knowledge base on oxido-reduction reaction of compulsory chemical textbook1in high school, finally adopting the way of generalizing knowledge point by solving exercise to evaluate the knowledge base. The fifth chapter is a summary of the theory and practice, and put out the visions and outlook about direction of the next study.Through the study, from the perspective of the knowledge base and ontology combining the characteristics of chemistry subject, I established oxido-reduction knowledge relationship model about the secondary school chemistry based on oxido-reduction knowledge system, and identified the method and technical route of building knowledge base on subject topic, and found a viable method of evaluation of ontology, which is to generalize the knowledge points by solving exercise.
