Binocular camera structure is used to get the obstacle position informationin front of the blind, based on the analysis of existing guide blind technologyand binocular vision technology. The voice conversion module on obstaclelocation information can accurately prompt obstacles ahead to guide the blind.At this paper, we systemic research system principle, design scheme, specificmethods to achieve.The work is completed as follows:(1) By analyzing the theory of binocular vision ranging and keytechnologies,we proposed the guide system design requirements todefine the system overall scheme and the guide blind method.(2) We have completed the system’s hardware design, including Cameramodule, FPGA control module, serial debugging and buzzer alarmmodule.(3) We have completed the system’s software design, including image graycontrol module, valid point coordinate to acquisition and storage module, the cache FIFO module, read FIFO module, signal processing, and serialdisplay module; this paper gives a detailed experimental program codefor each module to achieve.(4) We have completed the experiment of the camera calibration. Hardwareand software design methods of the FPGA as the only core control fromthe PC realize real-time binocular vision measurement is proved to becorrect. The experiments by the guide blind strategy show that thebinocular vision technology applied to guide the blind is feasibile,Through theoretical analysis, we know the system measuring range.
