The concept of the EPC is put forward by Auto-ID Labs found by American MIT in1999. Since being established, EPC is widely researched in many countries and companies, and with making use of a network technique, it becomes an EPC network. The goal of EPC network is to form a worldwide network, and communication can be set up between enterprises interact when the products moved on their supply chain.In EPCglobal’s EPC network, as an important composition technology of EPC network, the basic function of ONS is to map an object’s EPC code to one or more EPCIS Server’s URI which is the address storing detail information of items. The ONS service resolution completely adopts the same word method compared to the DNS resolve mechanism. But the current ONS is not able to quickly and accurately to meet the mass level items queries because of having root server performance bottlenecks. We combine the practical applications of P2P technology with EPC network and propose a new information discovery service mechanism based on Chord algorithm. All original ideas of this mechanism include the following:(1)This mechanism is based on the hybrid P2P structure, and it can support information distributed storage, achieve balanced load of network node:(2) the super node layer based on Chord algorithm realizes routing information quickly forwarding and increase the query efficiency:(3)the mapping table in super node layer and ordinary node layer directly map coded into servers IP address, simplified the items the flow of information discovery mechanism.Finally, we compared ONS and hierarchical Discovery Service based on Chord algorithm by simulation tool-NS2from two aspects on query efficiency and average query delay. Simulation experiments show that hierarchical Discovery Service has better load balancing performance, could avoid the problem of root ONS bottleneck and is extremely suitable for large-scale inquiry, especially in the face of mass-level items information.
