In order to reduce the vehicle accidents of hypervelocity, many electronic devices andproducts used for highway speed monitoring appeared. Such as inductance coil, speedmeasurements through video, etc. While these devices can not meet the technical conditionsthat solving the existing difficulties in terms of installation complexity, the terminals andreal-time processing. Meanwhile the increasingly prominent high-speed transportationregulatory issues can not be relieved. For that reason, a new type of highway velocimetrysystem for wireless location is proposed and realized based on ZigBee in this paper.Firstly, the features and technical specifications are proposed on the basis of researchingthe vehicle wireless location and velocimetry system. The overall design structure of thissystem is provided combining with the features of ZigBee networking technology. Theselected network topology, network addresses allocation and route allocation principle isclarified. The characteristics of this system are demonstrated in a detail.Secondly, the CC2431is applied as the core chip according to the system function. Asmall-scale wireless star network is build by six ZigBee modules. The design of the softwareis conducted on the basis of ZigBee2006protocol stack. The system performance function isanalyzed and realized. Contrast to the wireless ranging methods, received signal strengthindicator positioning technology is analyzed to be used in positioning, thus a wirelesspositioning is achieved based on the CC2431. The accuracy of the measured value of vehiclespeed is improved by using maximum likelihood estimation algorithm, and the goal ofreal-time location and speed monitoring is achieved in this paper. Finally, computer simulation and laboratory experiments are completed, and theexperiment shows that the results of positioning and speed measuring of the ZigBee wirelessnetwork meet the design requirements, data transmission is stability and reliability, and theworkload of the control center is reduced effectively. The researches of this thesis indicatethat this system scheme for highway vehicle location and speed is feasible. In addition, it isconvenient to operate on different hardware platforms, and has broad application prospects.
