With the development of computer technology and digital manufacturingtechnology, parametric techniques as a novel design method has been widely appliedto the complex shape of the architectural design. Geometric surfaces has been widelyused as an important modeling elements.Due to the limited size of the buildingcomponents of the existing digital manufacturing technology and equipment that canbe processed, architectural surface shuold be divided into a suitable size to facilitatethe various components of production and construction phases of the assembly.Therefore,the complex geometry is transformed into a quantitative processingmethods that can be implemented and cost-effective has become a hot topic ofarchitecture research in the field.This paper reviewed the computer representation of the surface, surfaces in thebuilding’s history and application. Classify the types of building surfaces and thelatest manufacturing methods, and describes the digital construction technologywhich is closely related to the surface construction. Through discussion constructionmethod of the triangle mesh, planar quad mesh and planar hexagonal mesh, the offsetproperties, dupin cyclide and circle arc structure,the paper has studied the commonissues of architecture surface, such as the panel segmentation, the supporting structure,cost control and node design. Paper using the circle arc structure optimizationalgorithm and an iterative optimization strategy combined with segmentation methodand planarity. So that make the surface complex transferred to the two aspects, namely,panels using simple geometric shapes and improve the reuse of components, whichput the construction-aware into the architectural surface quantitative processingmethodThe optimization strategy presented by paper enables the designer can easilycontrol the size of the mesh patches, while ensuring that the mesh is planar. Thealgorithm of circle arc structure is extended by adding a T-node to relax theconstraints of a node, and introduced the support structure to meet the structuralrequirements. The paper gives the idea of the panel cost control, while using the radius of repeat expansion of the scope of application of the arc st ructure.This willeffectively guide the design of the choice of surface mode ling means.
