In recent years, with the rapid development of modern communication technologies, thebroadband wireless access technology with obvious advantage of flexible, convenient, are gettingmore and more extensive attention in the industry. IEEE802.16standard, which is targeted at thewireless metropolitan area network wireless broadband technology, is a hot research topic in thefield. However, the IEEE802.16standard has no specific definition for network access controlpart and bandwidth allocation part, so research on bandwidth allocation algorithm in IEEE802.16has also become important issues.Based on this situation, this paper focuses on the802.16d standard packet schedulingalgorithms. First, this paper introduces the IEEE802.16d standard, and analyzes the function ofMAC layer’s each sub-layer, then analyzes the basis of the bandwidth request and grantmechanism based on the study of5kinds of traffic flows. Secondly, this paper mainly studies thegeneric scheduling algorithms used in wired and wireless network, knowing their respectivecharacteristics and performance of the pros and cons. Then mainly focuses on three schedulingalgorithm: RR algorithm, MAX C/I algorithm and PF algorithm. On this basis, a hybridscheduling scheme is proposed by using EDF on real-time services and using an improved PFalgorithm on non-real-time services to get better performance on QoS requirements. Finally, usesOPNET14.5to build a WiMAX simulation platform to achieve the hybrid algorithm.Thesimulation result shows that the throughput, latency and packet loss are lot better than WRRalgorithm, and the QoS requirements are satisfied。...
