The wireless relay communication has been considered as one of the promising technique innext generation wireless communication networks. In general, relay system can be used forextending coverage and saving the mobile terminal power consumption due to reducing the overallpath loss in wireless communication networks. The emergence of the cooperative relayingtechnology makes the single antenna mobile device achieve virtual spatial diversity gain overRayleigh fading channels which is similar to the condition of multi-antenna. Multiple access relaychannel (MARC) because of its high practicality is considered as an important research direction inthe future of wireless communications. The related relay technology is introduced in chapter2. With the characteristics of the radiochannel, this chapter focuses on the models of two way relay channel (TWRC) and MARC,diversity-merge techniques, especially on network-coding based MARC (NC-MARC).Network coding based cooperative relay channel under the option of selection combining (SC)is studied in chapter3. Four cases of possible interruption are analyzed in relay adaptive mode. Weinvestigate the overall performance of the relay in adaptive mode with outage probability anddiversity gain. The research results show that the performance and spatial diversity in networkcoding-based cooperative relay under SC option better than in a point-to-point transmission.Network coding based cooperative relay channel under the option of maximal ratio combing(MRC) and power allocation are studied in chapter4. The research results show that allocatingmore power in first time slot can make better performance of the system in using network coding.A network coding based multi-access relay channel (NC-MARC) where a decode-and-forwardrelaying and a static XOR network coding are considered for the one-way relaying system arestudied in chapter5. This MARC is composed of two sources, two relays and a destination node.We aim at single-relay selection between these relays and analyze the outage performance for thethree relay selection modes which have different properties but require different channel qualityinformation (CQI) for the source-to-relay links and the relay-to-destination links. The analysis andcomputer simulation show that relay selection in two relays has better outage probabilityperformance than single relay.
