In the middle of the last century, the former Soviet Union scholars began to studyvariable structure system theory. The largest advantage of variable structure system isthat it has full adaptability to disturbance and perturbation, and the design of statetrajectory has no relationship with the parameters of the system and disturbances. Afterdecades of development, the variable structure has been formed complete theoreticalsystem, and the most perfect development of them is sliding mode variable structure.As the main large weapon in the world, tank has firepower, maneuverability andprotection ability, and it plays a main force in the modern war field. But gun controlsystem has some nonlinear factors, such as outside disturbance, parameter perturbationand so on, it seriously impact on the combat performance of the tank. So every countryin the word takes more attention on the development of the tank fire control system.This thesis studies the tank gun control system, and designs sliding mode variablestructure controller for tank regulator which exists parameter perturbation and outsidedisturbance. It obtains good control performance. Firstly, it analyzes the mathematicalmodel of tank regulator, and designs a sliding model variable structure controller basedon the specific eigenvector of the fan-shaped area. The simulation results show that thecontroller can reduce the system chattering effectively, and improve the systemresponse speed. This thesis also proposes using the methods of sliding model variablestructure control theory combining with intelligent control to study the plant, anddesigns a fuzzy sliding mode controller and an adaptive fuzzy sliding mode controllerseparately for plant. The simulation results show that the controllers can improve thesystem performance and obtain robustness effectively.
