Standard SPIHT algorithm is the fundamental fact of the wavelet coefficients quantify the standard SPIHT algorithm to take a fixed binary range of quantitative, does not take the wavelet coefficients of energy distribution, and sometimes this approach is not necessarily the best. On this point this paper presents a new improved method. The algorithm than the standard SPIHT algorithm codec a significant reduction in the number of times, time consumption and PSNR and standards quite SPIHT algorithm. Finally, use MATLAB to realize that the process to improve the algorithm is reasonable.
