Strip steel occupies an extremely important position in the iron and steel industry, it not only is a military, shipbuilding, aviation aerospace, machine manufacturing, chemical engineering the importance of the profession original material, but also in the car, appliance people the life essentially of the product get extensive usage. Surface quality is one of the most important quality parameters for steel strip, with the development of technology,which get more and more concerns from the follow-up industry The iron and steel corporation pay more and more attention on how to detect and control the defects of surface in steel strip. With the improvement of the computer-vision and computer capacity, mosaic processing of the surface defect image of strip steel becomes an important component of the detection, which is the premise steps of the edge detection, defect classification, the process not only for the performance of sensor requirements are relatively high, at the same time maintain its defects image detail of the information requirements of higher performance.This article first detailed introduction image mosaic technology research present situation, characteristic and application domain, thus has demonstrated the image mosaics technology broad application prospect. Then introduced with emphasis in the pretreatment, image matching and the image fusion, analyzed and summarized their main method, the performance as well as the existence question. In this foundation, proposed one kind image mosaics method based on the phase correlation optimization, this method mainly aims at this limitation of which Richard Szeliski has proposed the movement2-D space8parameters projections transformation model algorithm, uses the expansion phase correlation method to obtain the initial matching parameter value, then carries on the optimization using the L-M optimization algorithm to the initial parameter value but to obtain the more accurate matching parameter, thus has overcome the artificial determination initial parameter value question.In addition, in the research in view of the phase correlation method limitation, proposed one kind image mosaics method based on the interest points matching, this method firstly extracts the interest points using the Harris angle detector, and uses the comparison maximum value law to obtain the match characteristic point pair, thus realization image matching. Interest points match image mosaics method has overcome the phase correlation method shortcoming. Then, use this method to the mosaic of strip steel defects image, and the factors such as the surface not smooth and the light uneven cause the difference of image background gray, then there are obvious trace after mosaics. And then use technology to achieve two Splicing images transition smoothly that exist differences in gray. Image effect is improved obviously. The paper finally has mainly studied the panoramic image technology, discussed the cylinder panoramic image issue with emphasis, and proposes one kind of cylinder panoramic image mosaics solution. At the same time, we achieve large field of view and wide viewing angle defects image mosaics.The entire software system using matlab achieve development, using matlab easy to matrix calculate the characteristics, a better image mosaic completed the task.
