Terahertz (THz) wave has a wide range of applications in object imagery, medicaldiagnosis, environment monitoring, satellite communication and national safetyinspection etc. It is a practical problem how to effectively generate broadband THzradiation with high-power and high energy in present research.Based on the current surge model, the radiation characteristic of the near and thefar THz wave field are analyzed. The effect of flux and pulse width of the incidentlaser, carrier lifetime and the carrier mobility of the photoconductive (PC) material onthe near and the far THz wave are investigated with the impact of the time lag andabsorption of the optical pulse in the PC considered. The distribution of electric fields T-shaped antenna, trapezoid antenna and roundcorner antenna are analyzed using Ansoft Maxwell software. The results show that thedistribution of electric field and the radiation property are greatly dependent on thegeometry and electrode gap. The capability of resistance to voltage of round cornerantenna is improved by optimized its geometry and the electrode gap.
