The channel model utilized in the3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) is thespace channel model (SCM) and the extended SCM (SCME). And in the fourthgeneration communication system standard-international mobile telecommunication-advanced (IMT-Advanced), the channel model employed is still SCM while with furthermodification. By employing geometric ray tracking method and taking the spacetransmission characteristics into consideration, the IMT-Advanced channel model canreflect sufficiently the channel feature in the time-, space-, and frequency-dimension.This thesis first accomplishes the software modeling of the IMT-Advanced channelgiven in ITU M.2135standard file. The implementations of both large scale fading andsmall scale fading are given using C/C++. And the channel character is studied bysimulations. Then, the coded system performance over the IMT-Advanced channel isresearched. Specifically, a simplified one-tap channel scheme is presented, based onwhich the coded systems with various coding schemes are studied. And over themulti-path channel, the coded system is studied with time-domain equalization andfrequency-domain equalization, respectively.
