MIMO (Multiple input Multiple output) technology is a major breakthrough ofsmart antenna in the field of wireless mobile communications. The Application ofMIMO technology can greatly increase the capacity of the channel, and also canimprove the reliability, reduce the error rate of the channel. With the rapidcommercialization of3G communication, MIMO technology has become one of the keytechnologies in wireless communication. MIMO has been more and more applied tovarious kinds of wireless communication systems. With the antenna number increasing, MIMO technology has become more andmore complexity. Thereby the number of antennas is limited, and the advantage ofMIMO technology can’t be fully explored. As the effect of mutual coupling betweenantenna elements significantly change the performance of the array, how to reducealgorithm complexity and the degree of realization of MIMO system while guaranteethe system performance become a topic worthy of study. At the same time, how toreduce the effect of mutual coupling between MIMO antennas has become a researchhotspot in the field of engineering and technology. At present, scholars mainly researchthe following aspects: the MIMO algorithm, channel modeling, and antenna design. The multi-antenna design is one of the key technologies of wirelesscommunication in MIMO, due to the requirement of antenna placing space, mutualcoupling between antennas has become a hot research topic. Focusing on the MIMOantenna technology and coupled theory, this paper researches methods ofminiaturization and reduction of coupling of MIMO multiple antennas. In the first chapter, mainly introduce the research background and significance ofMIMO system, and the research status at home and abroad is presented too. In thesecond chapter of the thesis, mainly summarize related concept of MIMO technology. Inthe third chapter, describes the theory of antenna coupling and decoupling analysismethod, summarizes the MIMO antenna design theory as well as the miniaturizationtechnology scheme. In the fourth chapter of the thesis, examples which using floordefects technology to decrease coupling of PIFA antenna array and loading capacitancebased on the S parameter decoupling theory to achieve decoupling are given. The fifthchapter of this thesis is the summary of the work, and suggestions for the forward work.
