China is not only the largest country of garment processing in the world, but also the largest of sewing equipment producing. The performance of sewing equipment determines the development of the whole garment industry. Intelligent Sewing Equipment has the characteristics of high efficiency, high speed, more importantly, unparalleled sewing quality. It has become a necessary condition for the garment processing industry to be more competitive. The research on Embedded System is the key to enhance the international competitiveness of our sewing equipment.Based on the project "the universal LCD touch screen system development of sewing equipment "(HX010032515) that co-operate by Xidian University and Xi’an Standard Industrial Co., Ltd. combining the actual applications closely, a necessary research on and discussion about the constitution, characteristics, motion control and application software design of embedded systems of intelligent sewing equipment is involved in the paper.Firstly, we discuss the composition and feature of the embedded systems of intelligent sewing equipment, analyzing the function of each component, and describe the architecture of embedded systems for intelligent electronic knotting machine simply in this paper.Secondly, based on the needs of the project, we discuss the selection of hardware and software customization for embedded systems of intelligent sewing equipment. Combined with the intelligent electronic knotting machine, a detailed processing of custom Linux system is given. And a solution of system customization under specific environmental requirements is given too.And then, the issue of graphic user interface (GUI) that is involved in the design of application software of intelligent sewing equipment is discussed. Including the characteristics of mini GUI and using method in embedded systems of intelligent sewing equipment.The development of embedded system application software of Intelligent Sewing Equipment is directly related to the system functionality and usability. The paper studies the design method based on the finite state machine and DARTS, using the combination of these two methods, design and implement the control system software of intelligent electronic knotting machine.Finally, based on the needs of the project, a detailed analysis of the communication protocol of operator panel and control system has been made, laying the foundation for the smooth implementation of the project.
