This paper researchs social-groups in terms of Group Communication, borrow ideasfromSocial Psychology to analyse the problem of individuals and the herd, to explainhow individuals merge into groups and form the herd mentality. Writer use three maintheories,(1).the filed theory from Lewin,(2).the Self-categorization theory from John.Tuner,(3).Social Representations from Serge Moscovici. And the third-person effect willtake a part in order to study the impact of propaganda. The object of study are theregulations and rules of military group, and then take it as lens to the point of individualsmerge to groups. Different of group mind will make group act differently as mediaimpact. Then we will conclude with the propaganda methods to different social-groups.First part of this paper, discuss the relationship of group mind and groupcommunication. Argues that the researches about group mind are basically a singlefoundational question, how individual changes in group. The group mind is a essentialelement which will define the group communication. And how the individuals agreed toa single mind, is another key matter.The second part of the article, mainly to describe the process of military individualsjoining the army. By the means of new recruit under heavy training and ideologicaleducation, use Lewin’s field theory as a framework to analyse their movement. And usethe thrid-person effect to anticipate their mind. This paper argues that the form of groupis a self-categorization process. Introduced the components of army group mind. Thelaws, regulations and spirit-leadership, composed the army’s mind-power. The formationand slogan in army training act as a mystical significance, so as the army flag, armyemblem and warsongs, those symbolic signs work together to raise high group-identity,and the special group representations. Analysed the leaders of army and levels ofcommunication, that they are the image of the army, as the token power.The third part compares the difference of the communication methods ofhomogeneity group and heterogeneity group. Army is the typical homogeneity group, asthe long existing, highly organized, and has an unique social identity, and so independentthat other groups won’t make much impact on it. As compared to the homogeneity group, heterogeneity group much easier to polarized. This article analysed the difference ofgroup communication, it effected by the group field. When the individuals’ relationshipare intimate, and have clear rules, and the group will act more sanely.And then presentthe propaganda methods toward different group.The last part of this article summarize the model of how individuals merge intodifferent group.
