Wireless sensor networks are self-organized networks which are composed ofsensor nodes. It has a broad application and is emerging crossover study fields.Recently, the underwater wireless sensor networks technology has considerabledevelopment in environmental monitoring, resources exploitation and militarydefense, etc. The data packets that underwater sensor uploads to the data center haveto contain the sea temperature, salinity, composition, and also the location, otherwisethe packet is not the application value. So, accurate positioning for underwatersensor is the basic premise of Marine environment’s research and exploration.Focusing the characteristics of the marine sensor networks, the Monte-CarloMultidimensional Localization Algorithm (MCMLA) is proposed based on thetraditional method of Monte-Carlo to the marine environment. Then, theWave-direction-spectrum Monte-Carlo Multidimensional Localization Algorithm(WMCMLA) is proposed by using relevant knowledge of wave spectrum.First, this paper introduces the basic concept of WSN. Then the paper brieflyexplains the important position of nodes localization, its basic principles, classification and the performance evaluation standard of localization algorithm.Second, by the main ideas of Monte-Carlo the Monte-Carlo MultidimensionalLocalization Algorithm (MCMLA) is proposed according to the features of ocean. Inaddition, based on MCMLA, the Wave-direction-spectrum Monte-CarloMultidimensional Localization Algorithm (WMCMLA) is proposed with wavedirection spectrum which can improve the accuracy of node location prediction. Finally, the results show that the proposed algorithm make a good use of nodes’previous position to accurately predict coordinates of the next moment coordinates, and have outstanding performance compared with traditional methods in differentpast time, node density, moving speed and seed density by simulation experiment.
