MIMO technology is capable of providing more channel capacity under the constraint of limited frequency bandwidth, which is widely used in the next generation communication standards as physical level technology. From a further perspective MIMO is a very promising technology in both LTE and4G evolution, so it has become hot spot of wireless communication researches. The complexity of MIMO system increases rapidly with the increasing antenna quantity. As a result the low complexity, high performance MIMO signal detector design has received extensive attention in MIMO researches. In this research, after variant MIMO detection algorithms are analyzed in details and common characteristics among the most popular tree search detection algorithms are summarized, a novel bidirectional parallel detection algorithm is proposed. The new algorithm lower the system complexity in essence while be compatible to proceed in parallel and friendly to hardware implementation. Several optimized techniques are adopted in hardware design, which results on highly parallelized and pipelined implementation. Finally, System Generator is introduced to accelerate the verification and carry out hardware-software co-simulation.
