Dynamic Resource Arrangement And Revenue Management Based On Cloud Federation

As the rapid development and wide spread of Cloud Computing, moreand more companies have set up their own Cloud platforms for meetinginternal requirements or opening up new market by providing services.This paper has proposed an extension method called ‘Cloud Federation’,which aims to strengthen the computing capability of current CloudComputing technology. After giving out the detailed definitions andcharacteristics, we have also discussed unified resource description methodwhich is necessary for the implementation of Cloud Federation andresource arrangement strategies which are suitable for Cloud Federationextension. We have carried out a reasonable and promising extensiondirection.The contributions of this paper contain:(1) A unified resource description methodIn order to implement the communication and cooperation amongClouds, a unified resource description method is necessary among differentplatforms. This description method is easy to be transmitted, generated,parsed and extended. It also contains enough information so that thereceiver can have an overall view of the sender and make a comparativeoptimistic decision. We choose to use the XML files which comply withcertain Schema as the communication format. Such XML files containbasic information of Cloud and form the base of Cloud Federation.(2) Resource arrangement strategies in Cloud FederationCloud Federation provides more choices for deciding resourcearrangement strategy. Local strategy is the same as the current Cloud Computing while remote strategy is more complicated. In the latter, weavoid cycle dependency of resources by choosing some certain services tobe migrated since such dependencies will make a negative influence on theoverall performance. Besides, in order to reduce the cost, local resourcesare allocated with higher priorities while remote resources are with lowerones.(3) A system architecture of Cloud Federation and A model of CloudRegistryWe have proposed system architecture and design of CloudFederation by combining unified resource description method and resourcearrangement strategy dealing with Cloud Federation together. Thearchitecture includes running mode of Cloud Federation and extendedarchitecture of Cloud Platform. Meanwhile, we have also illustrated asequence diagram showing the composition process of Cloud Federation.In this paper, we have discussed issues of Cloud Federation includingfeasibility and solution to some potential problems in Cloud Federation byvivid examples and simulation experiments. In this way, we have built areasonable and practical Cloud Computing extension and a promisingdeveloping direction. The Cloud Federation complying with systemarchitecture of this paper is a win-win solution, which enriches the servicemode of Cloud Computing and is able to provide IT services with higherquality.
