In face of rapid development of international tobacco industry and informationage, China’s tobacco industry has been gradually reforming its production andmarketing management systems to facilitate the regrouping of tobacco brands andcope with foreign competition arising from the country’s entry into WTO. Startingfrom the tobacco industrial and commercial administration at provincial level, thereform has advanced the formation of respective administration systems for tobaccoproduction and marketing nationally and provided strong support for creating afavorable market environment. In information development, the “three unificationprinciples”, meaning unification of platforms, data bases and networks, have beenfollowed and an industrial administration and decision-making system has beenestablished in order to integrate sources and share information, which, in turn,improves the competitiveness of domestic tobacco industry.The thesis places a great emphasis on the technical routes adopted in systemdesign and development. To integrate information, the system adopts a multilevel B/Sstructure and module development technology, designs the system structure anddevelops the system based on the J2EE distributed computer technology,automatically collects information and exchanges data through MQ---an IBMmiddleware product for information, and uses XML as data interchange standard forsystem interface. ETL technique taken from data warehouse is used to effectivelyanalyze data and develop platforms in order to support the process of makingdecisions. An identity authentication center is established to unify the management ofusers and system security.The data acquisition system aims to integrate industrial and commercial data oftobacco industry, sets up an industrial decision-making system on tobacco productionand management based on the available industrial information network, and timelyobtains comprehensive information flow and data on tobacco production anddistribution by accomplishing data acquisition and exchange among various systemsfrom tobacco industrial and commercial enterprises. The data warehouse of the systemwill be the data hub of tobacco industry. The construction of a data center for tobaccoindustry, deployment and development of functions used for analyzing data and assisting decision-making process will lay a solid foundation for the integration of theinformation system of tobacco industry.
