Attention had been drawn on the "green economy" by energyconsumption enterprises, as the idea of sustainable development hasbecome one of the most important development strategy of the country.Communications industry, as an important livelihood of public service, has a major operating business scale and extremely impressive profitoutput. Meanwhile, the resource cost, energy consumption and carbonemissions that brought the profit, were easily ignored. The energyconservation strategies available yet to reduce base station powerconsumption, which is the major part of resource "black hole", arefocused on the easier aspect, environment control system. No strategythat focus on the base station terminal itself. So this paper’s mainresearch directions and objectives: finding the energy-saving method ofbase station equipment in the Radio Network.Analyze the energy consumption of the mobile base station andcarrier unit, and Power control strategy of GSM. Study theenergy-saving technology of GSM system according to the actual network operation: the “PA Turning off Technology Based on Time slotMonitoring”, and the “Carrier Unit Turning off Technology Based onTraffic Load Monitoring”. Analyze the energy-saving mechanisms andprinciples. Select various types of typical regional and scenes and findthe different effects of the technology to the radio network performance. Finally, explore the results of both technologies working in theactual situation of the network, regardless of environmental model, traffic load size and setting number of carrier units. By a comprehensiveassessment and evaluation of the results of energy saving, we getenergy-saving methods for the verification of base station andapplication scenarios, and summarize the relevant experience.
