A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a self-configuringinfrastructureless network of mobile devices connected by wireless. TheAd hoc network routing protocol design is very different from thetraditional fixed network because of the particularity of the Ad hocnetwork. Ad hoc networks have a lot of routing protocols, and DSRprotocol is one of them. DSR protocol, also known as dynamic sourcerouting protocol, it is one of the Ad-hoc network routing protocols. Thelargest features of the DSR protocol is the packets will carry a completeand orderly routing information, and rely on routing information tocomplete the work. Although this approach has brought manyadvantages, such as more efficient use of bandwidth resources and save alot of the cost of maintaining routing information, etc. It still have a lot ofsecurity risks.First, This paper presents a new attack for DSR protocol: packetattacks. packet attacks using source routing protocol features to modifythe orderly routing information in the packet. Leading to the packetforwarding process encountered an error. The normal nodes in thenetwork will forced to start routing discovery. And network will beflooding attacks. When packet attack launched, the network will produce a largenumber of error messages, and eventually sent back to the attacker node.So the defense strategy is the use of the error message number calculation, and ultimately to identify the attack nodes. And in order to be able to accurately locate the attack node, also joined in the defense policy ideasof data mining. K-means clustering algorithm will be used in thedetecting attacks node, so that the defense strategy can adapt to a varietyof complex network environment, reduce the probability of false positiveand false negative attacks nodeThe end of this paper will introduce the Ad hoc network simulationplatform, NS-2. NS-2will be carried out simulation of packet attackand defense, and analysis of packet attack and defense experiments, andobserve the effect of packet attacks, as well as the effectiveness of theproposed defense strategy.
