The deformation measurement has become a hot point in research of measurement.Many researches about the3D deformation measurement using optics methods have beendone in the past decades. Digital Speckle Pattern Interferometr(yDSPI)and Digital ImageCorrelation(DIC)are two whole-field, non-contact experimental techniques that enablerapid and highly accurate3-D measurements of deformation. DSPI system needs aphase-shifting setup and rotating the whole device for3-D deformation measurement.These operations are especially inconvenient to data acquisition of deformations in threedirections simultaneously and increase the system deviation. DIC system using one CCDcamera can acquire2-D information of displacement. Another CCD camera is demandedto record speckle image simultaneously for3-D measurement. The matching of imagesrecorded by two CCD cameras may introduce extra deviation.The combination of the two techniques is an effective method to diminish thesedeviations and simplify experiments. DSPI setup for out-plane measurement and DICsetup using one CCD camera for in-plane measurement constitute one measurementsystem. Three dimensions information of deformation can be recorded simultaneously.The main contents of this paper are described as following:1)A review of the DSPI and DIC method for deformation measurement is presented.Both potentials and limitation of the two methods are listed.2) Combination DSPI and DIC for3D deformation measurement is proposed. Theexperiment of measuring an aluminium sheet is designed to confirm the advantages ofthis measurement system.3) A novel digital images processing method which separates single color imagesfrom RGB speckle pattern is present for the3D measurement method. These images canbe processed for getting in-plane and out-plane displacements.4) Three dimensional information of deformation can be reconstructed throughspecial methods of image processing and the contrast results of these methods arepresented completely.
