Research On Information Hiding Technology Based On Digital Television Network

With the high-speed development of network， there are increasing needs ofinformation security in the military, commercial, national security areas.The informationhiding technology hides not only the contents but also the presence of secret information.Compared with the traditional encryption technology, The information hiding technologyprovides a better protection for the hidden information and has many advantages.information hiding technology has becoming a hot research topic in the informationsecurity area.Covert communications technology is an important branch of information hidingtechnology. Internet-based covert channel is constructed in the headers of the TCP/IPprotocols, which has some disadvantages. Firstly, Internet data goes through a lot ofnetwork routers or firewalls, which is likely to be modified and filtered. Secondly, there isnot much space in the TCP/IP protocols’ header fields. A large amounts of data packetsmay also cause network congestion, so the hiding capacity is considerably limited. Thirdly,the Internet network is an open platform for any person to access it, including people whoaim at attacking the data on the net, posing a threat to the hidden information. Internet,telecommunications networks and digital TV network is currently the three majornetworks. Digital TV network has many advantages. Kinds of medium such as satellite,cable and terrestrial wireless can guarantee the communication between any places onEarth so that digital TV is an open network. From both legal and technical perspective, thedigital television system works with high security. High bandwidth and end-to-endconnection make it reliable. In short, digital TV is good information hidden media. Inorder to improve the covert communication, this article researches on information hidingbased on digital TV network. Through deep study of the digital television system, I dividedigital TV network into four layers. Then analyze the data structures to design covertchannels in each layer. At last, a emulator is carried out based on TS packet, whichrealized the embedding and extracting.
