Cyclone Ⅱ devices contain a number of enhanced features, such as embeddedmultipliers, embedded memory, PLL and low-cost package. It is a great progress intelecommunications, computer peripherals and industrial markets. On the other hand, X.21protocol was developed in1976by CCITT, a digital interface standard which is used forexchange information between digital channel interface and computer. It has a large fieldapplications in the data acquisition system, IP interconnection, user access and militarycommunications. X.21protocol interface provides point to point transmission ofinformation using a simple form.In the background of “integrated data communication network protocol analysis andself-diagnostic test platform” project, this thesis designs and implements a X.21protocoltest card based on CycloneⅡwith EDA techniques. This thesis uses Verilog HDL andQuartus II to complete the design, compile, synthesis, programming and verification, anddo the simulation in QuartusⅡand ModelSim.And the testing software is developed underVisual C++6.0. Specific works are mainly as follows:First, X.21protocol interface is designed and implemented using BinarySynchronous Communication protocol. It has the basic communication function, bit errorrate test function and error injection capabilities.Senond, the testing software is designed and implemented. The key technicalproblems and the key functional modules are described during the process of developingthe software.Last, using the testing software, X.21protocol card is tested and verified. The testingtype includes the conformance testing, performance testing and robustness testing. And theresults show X.21protocol card works well.
