Computer vision gives machine the capability of understanding externalenvironment, and the core of it is image processing. The target identification andorientation using the technique of computer vision has many advantages such as nocontact, precise and fast. The target identification and orientation have been usedwidely in industrial, aerospace, military and other fields currently.This article mainly discuss the technique of target identification and orientationin the complex background such as sun light and other background target, and itsapplication to the ground experimentation of location accuracy of the space CCDcamera. We mainly do the following research work:1. According to the target identification and orientation under complexbackground, we put forward a method of two steps based on image preprocessing.The first step is identification of similar target, the purpose of which is to retain usefulinformation and to eliminate useless information, and the second step is the targetlocation.2. In image preprocessing, we use different method according to different typesof noise, we use calibration method to eliminate the dark current noise, and thenenhance the image to improve image quality.3. According to the identification of similar target, we first take the method ofimage segmentation, filtering and reduce the image information to some useful edgeinformation, then we put forward a parameter K which base on the geometric featureof the target, we use the parameter to identify the target, the method is simple as wellas feasible highly.4. We use the method of Hough and the method of distance qualificationaccording to experiment to detect and locate the target,in the latter method,we useshape heart algorithm to locate the precise target. By comparing the two kinds of methods, we choose the latter method which has low time complexity and highprecision in experiments.5. Finally the algorithm is applied to the ground experiment of space CCDcamera, and we measured the location accuracy of this camera is higher than0.2",which is fully comply with the design requirements, and the feasibility andavailability of the method is well confirmed.
