In recent years, the understanding of the moon and getting more informationfrom the surface of the moon is more concerned. In order to improve the adaptabilityof the panoramic camera on the lunar exploration for objectives and light intensitychanges, the camera should have exposure control role. Exposure function is animportant mechanism of the camera work, at the same time, also determines the imagequality shot. However, in the exploration of the moon need to take a lot of images,each exposure must enter the command manually control the exposure, then theworkload is considerable. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the automatic exposurefunction in camera. This paper was from the national lunar exploration researchprojects. The panoramic camera in the lunar exploration project is one of theimportant loads, it will be more sophisticated and comprehensive imaging of the lunarsurface. Due to the complex environment of the lunar surface and its different solarillumination conditions, the traditional automatic exposure algorithm is difficult tocomplete the request. Through the analysis of the lunar surface environment and theexisting algorithm, in this paper, the main research is the suitable for lunar explorationpanoramic camera’s automatic exposure algorithm.Firstly, the paper outlined the work of domestic and international exploration ofthe moon and its auto-exposure algorithm development. Research at home and abroad,and carried out a systematic study of a variety of auto-exposure algorithm, guaranteenot to increase the overall complexity of the premise of the panoramic camera, andauto exposure algorithm proposed in this paper to increase the accuracy of autoexposure. Secondly, the panoramic camera system factors detailed analysis, whilediscussing the specific principle of automatic exposure. Again, on the panoramiccamera automatic exposure platform design described, to verify that the automaticexposure algorithm to build a good platform. Finally, a lot of work to research thetraditional auto-exposure algorithm, eventually in this paper we use the proposedautomatic exposure algorithm, and complete the design of the panoramic cameraauto-exposure imaging. The combination of engineering necessary papers innovative auto-exposurealgorithm based on image entropy, to solve the auto exposure problem in the complexenvironment of the lunar surface. It is different from the traditional algorithm, whichis dependence on image brightness. Because the algorithm is mainly based on the sizeof the image entropy, so the exposure is not the object’s position in the image, makingthe algorithm more flexible. The experimental results show that the algorithm toobtain accurate exposure under different lighting conditions.
