The target tracking technique is widely used for modern military and security monitoring. A large, expensive and special target tracker is necessary for computer tracking systems. But the tracker is not widely used in the processes of industry. However, there is a trend to develop miniaturized target trackers, which would considerably reduce their volume and size. This paper would aims to design this target tracker by developing appropriate software and hardware.The tracker hardware would include an image acquisition module, an image storage module, a target tracking module (FPGA), an image display module and a power supply module. From these modules, the target tracker makes a target image collection, a bottom driver from the target image display, and a program design which incorporates a target image color space transformation. The target tracker makes all these items by basing them on the FPGA. On the basis of the accomplished centroid extraction algorithm, the center of the gravity extraction algorithm, and the real time output of the miss distance.
