The principle and flexible architecture of Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) makes itinteresting research area in wireless communication system. As number of application hasincreased in past few years, so the question of performance and utilizing channel bandwidthare some of the important issues that researcher has to focus on and dealt with it.Medium access control (MAC) protocols play vital role in MANET. It works to provideefficient way to access limited bandwidth by all the mobile nodes within its transmissionrange. The IEEE802.11standard has support multiple data rate at physical layer. Researcherhas been proposed some rate adaptive MAC protocol in last few years. RBAR, ARF and OARare some of the well known multi rate protocols to utilize multi rate data transmission inwireless communication system. In this thesis we researched on RBAR multi rate MAC protocol. The novel mechanism ofrate adaption makes RBAR protocol more popular than other rate adaption technique. Weimplemented RBAR protocol in NS-2network simulator and evaluate the performance indifferent scenarios and conditions. The simulation result shows that RBAR protocol performsbetter than traditional IEEE802.11MAC protocol in different scenarios. |
