With the high development of wirelessnetwork and informationtechnology, multimedia has progressed fast, more and more mobile video terminals areapplied in multimedia communication, such as mobile visual telephone, wirelesssurveillance system and wireless video camera systems. Those video systems requirethe terminal can realize not only low complexity decoding, but real-time encoding andtransmission.Such conventional video coding framework as MPEG/H.26X,due toheavy computations in motion estimation, the encoder is too complex to be used.Distributed video coding is an path to solve the problem. It shifts heavycomputations in motion estimation from encoder to decoder which makes it differentfrom the conventional video coding framework. It’s the application of DSC in videocoding. It adopts intra-frame coding and inter-frame coding, which reduces thecomplexity of encoder.DVC has the feature against transmission errors and it is basedon channel coding.Firstly, this thesis presents basic principle and the history of videocoding.Secondly,it analyses the framework of DVC,then describes the affect andimportance of side information in DVC.Thirdly, focuses on the theory of sideinformation generation, and puts forward an improved scheme. This paper putsforward adaptive Multi-Hypothesis Motion-Compensated Prediction(MHMCP)technology to generate sideinformation, also it improves the method of the sideinformation generation by way of using the technology of forward motion estimationand backward motion estimation. A matlab system simulation has been done to theDVC system,by comparing with typical side information generation method, verifiesthe this scheme.
