Resent years, the wireless network has received more and more attention. For its wide range of applications and flexibility, wireless network technology is changing our life greatly in all aspects. Ad hoc network is a very important branch in wireless network, having several main features:no center, self-organization, multi-hop routing, dynamic topology. Therefore low demand for network infrastructure is required. Because of these characteristics, making it suitable for the situations that are inconvenience to built the network infrastructure in advance, requiring fast automatic networking and other occasions.Wireless Token Ring Protocol (WTRP) is a novel kind of medium access layer protocol for distributed wireless local area networks (WLANs), originally inspired by the network IEEE802.4token bus MAC protocol. In the IEEE802.11MAC protocol, the network access is based on the competition, and need a center node. In the wireless communication network, there are some problems like hidden terminals, partially connected network topology and random access Compared with IEEE802.11network, WTRP can provide bounded latency and reserved bandwidth, moreover QoS guarantee, and this is especially important in some occasions. Compared with802.11, WTRP improves efficiency by reducing the number of retransmissions due to collisions, and it is of better fairness as all stations use the channel for the same amount of time. Stations take turns transmitting and give up the right to transmit after a specified amount of time. WTRP is a distributed protocol that supports many topologies, as not all stations need to be connected. to each other or to a central station. WTRP is robust against single node failures, and recovers gracefully from multiple simultaneous faults. WTRP meets the application requirements in terms of bounded delay, fair share of bandwidth to all stations in the network, and fast failure recovery, and WTRP can also do some expansion in topology and applications. The paper will give a simulation analysis based on the WTRP first, and then build the hardware platform for network analysis and testing, optimization, in order to make it suitable for practical applications.
