In recent years, the community increasingly concerned about whether to apply a receiving antenna to receive multi-frequency short signal as the maturity and improvement of the satellite integrated navigation technology continues. Because this technology is more making use of in the field of personal and mobile communications, therefore, the design of the antenna should be compact and flexible, multi-band, broadband. The microstrip antenna generally is applied in various fields because the low profile, small footprint, thin volume, simple processing make it has the advantage of compact, portable, low cost. Since1970, it is the first time that the continuation of the microstrip antenna since the antenna was boom. It has been found that the antenna which can be able to accept multi-band, can solve many problems in life, such as power supply tool for mobile communication, radar and mobile radio FM process, ect. However, the microstrip antenna also has the disadvantage of low gain and narrow bandwidth, etc, which leading to some drawbacks in application. This article will focus on the discussion of the three major characteristics of this microstrip antenna such as miniaturization, multiple broadband, and wideband. Then we do an overall comparison and summary on the microstrip antenna. Also, we simulate and optimize by using the electromagnetic simulation software HFSS12and CST Microwave Studio2009, the paper introduces three novel microstrip antenna designs. The first design is a kind of parasitic resonance of minor tri-band antenna. It has successful realized tri-band antenna which can work in the WLAN and WIMAX band by applying the new technology of the coupled feed technology, loaded parasitic circular split ring and symmetric minor on a slotted floor. The second is dual-frequency microstrip antenna for GSM and DCS which can receive the signal at0.94GHz and1.8GHz frequency. The patch are slotted in U-shaped and—-shaped.The third is WLAN dual-band microstrip antenna with the operating band of2.4GHz and5.2GHz. The microstrip feed and the meandering technology are adopted in this scheme. One characteristics of this kind antenna is that the floor is very small, which mak it has the advantage of more compact and lightweight, simple structure, facilitate production compared with other conventional dual-band circularly polarized microstrip antenna. Then we simulate and optimize the above three types of antenna by simulation software, the simulation results show that they meet the current application of the wireless communication systems.
