Linuxsystem shares UNIX systems programming, interfaces, and methods of operation, andinherited UNIX efficiency and stability characteristics. Installing a Linux holds for longperiods of time off, no Unix-high royalties, without the support of high-end hardware,just a PC i386that can run. In addition, the Linux source code can be shared for the GPLcopyright free to compile.In recent years it become a very popular operating system.Today, most of the network services and applications company background servicesrunning platform using the Linux system, and by extension to a variety of differentLinux versions.This paper introduces the important role of monitor tool in Linux system monitoringand its implementation process. Monitor tool is essential for the entire production.Monitor tool can timely discover hidden problems on operation production; thereforprovide the reference index to maintenance engineers. Monitor tool in the functionaldesign is divided into the monitoring tool client and monitoring platform. Monitor toolfor client can be divided into two types in accordance with difference functionality, oneis to check the alarm type, and the other is automatic recovery type. The main functionof monitor platform is designed and implemented based on the operation andmaintenance engineers and the needs of the operation and maintenance administrator.Monitor tool client need to be deployed in a variety of Linux platform environment tomonitor the workload.In the realization of the monitor tool; we must consider theautomated testing instead of large manual testing. The test part automately goes throughthe black box testing method with shell language analog test cases. As a monitor tool fordebugging, it final produces automated test report. The result shows that the toolfunctions well and the performance are good as well.This thesis describes the significance of monitor tool for system monitoring and itsimplementation process based on Linux platform.According to the different demands,we make reasonable analysis and design to implement the major functional blocks.
