Economic prosperity and development of today’s network, to encourage moreenterprises, institutions increasingly high demands on their own network construction,Virtual Private Network with its unique configuration flexibility, affordable, safe andeasy expansion and other advantages, to win the market of all ages. Among many VPNnetwork models, BGP/MPLS VPNs has been the most widely used application anddevelopment of the fastest growing VPN technology in recent years. For its clever usesof the natural characteristics of the MPLS label that classificate and forward IP packetto establish a VPN, and the advantages of BGP protocol to support cross-domainforwarding VPN membership and reachability information. With the improvement of modern communication network bandwidth andprocessing capabilities, the intuitive, interactive, real-time multimedia services, such asnetwork audio/video conferencing, webcasts, distance education, software distribution, are gradually becoming the main stream application of next-generation networks. Forsuch point-to-multi-points sevices, IP multicast technology can save the occupiednetwork bandwidth resources that caused by the repilication of unicastpacket. In thiscontext, the introduction of multicast technology has becomea hot topic of research inthe field of the MPLS VPN network.BGP/MPLS VPN networks inherit the advantages of MPLS technology, andintroduced the VPN QoS and traffic engineering is a relatively mature and mainstreamrouter manufacturers recognized multicast implementations. Multicast routing protocolis a key aspect in the implementation of BGP/MPLS VPN multicast services, the BGPprotocol to ensure reliable routing and switching, and natural support for cross-domainscenario is bound to become a mainstream technology in the field.Firstly, the technical points of the MPLS VPN network based on the BGP protocolhave been givena systematic introduction. For the extension of the BGP/MPLS VPNnetwork in multicast services, in-depth analysison this basis, the multicast serviceprocessing system architecture of the network were introduecd following. On the basisof Internet draft, specific BGP protocol functions in support of the multicast service in MVPNs, proposed BGP protocol in MVPN network should play the following threefunctions:(1) provide the universal applicability of auto-discovery mechanism of theMVPN members,(2) support switching of customer multicast route on PE-PE interface,(3) provide binding mechanism of customer multicast tree to the P-tunnel on PE-CEinterface. Processes module of BGP-based auto-discovery of the multicast memberswere designed and described in details. Furthermore, procedures of exchangingC-Multicast Route between PE routers in SP backbone networks and implement ofbanding C-Multicast tree to P-tunnels are designed on the basis of auto-discovery.Finally, from the perspective of network simulation to construct the BGP/MPLS VPNmulticast network, the feasibility of the BGP protocol based auto-discovery extensionsfor the multicast environment, as well as multicast extension protocol performancesimulation.
