LPI radar system is one of the most important radar system in the current radar system, it gets more and more attention under the increasingly complex battlefield electromagnetic environment and intense electronic countermeasures. How to improve the viability, and enhanced the ability to detect and track targets, is currently a hot research topic. This paper studies the LPI radar system and its waveform design, and low intercept radar echo signal detection and parameter estimation, the major work are as follows1) According to the special requirements of the radar waveform design, proposed the concept of waveform intercepted factor, and then derived and improved waveform intercept factor, which provides a basis for waveform design and the choice of the modulation signal.2) Analyzed the LPI performance of a variety of modulation signal, including the LFM signal, the PM signal, and the LFM-PM signal, and then proposed the multi-carrier LFM signal, which has a better LPI performance in the simulation.3) Based on the characteristics of the LPI radar system, studied the broadband signal array beamformig, realized the non-adaptive and adaptive beamforming algorithm in the simulation.4) Discussed the detection of radar echo signal based on matched filtering, used multi-channel Doppler shift compensation method to overcome the sensitive issues of the matched filter on Doppler shift.5) Given the knowledge of waveform, proposed an improved fitting search algorithm to estimate the parameters and the estimation of parameters can approach the Cramer-Rao lower bound.
