During the developing process of LTE, the active antenna technology couldeffectively reduce co-channel interference among the cells and increase the networkcapacity. Recently, there is an important direction for research: Achieve the vertical cellsplit in the standard-network-layout. The antenna down tilt could achieve that.Compared with the usual horizontal cell split, the vertical cell split has more antennaparameters such as vertical Half-Power Beamwidth and the antenna gain has to considerboth the horizontal direction and vertical direction. The thesis researches on how toadjust the antenna parameters to promote the system performance of vertical cell split.In the research of the vertical cell split, the thesis brings forward3cases: case3×2, case6×1and case3×3. Case3×2is the focus of the thesis. The thesiswould research the impact on the system performance by the antenna parameters suchas single down tilt, combination of more than one down tilt, and the Half-PowerBeamwidth based on a lot of simulations. Case6×1and case3×3would separatelybe compared with case3×2. The simulation of the thesis is on system level.With the simulation of the single antenna down tilt, the thesis proved that the downtilt could evidently promote the system performance and the vertical Half-PowerBeamwidth would evidently affect the range of the best-down tilt. In the research ofcase3×2, the thesis worked out the well-performed combination of down tilts indifferent scenes. In the meanwhile, the thesis worked out how the vertical Half-PowerBeamwidth and transmitting power affect the system performance. The thesis creativelybrought the self-adjust down tilt and the vertical Half-Power Beamwidth into case3×2,that effectively promote the system performance.Through the compared simulation of3cases, the thesis worked out that case6×1performed better in3GPP-CASE-1and case3×2performed better in3GPP-CASE-3.Compared with case3×2, case3×3performed worse because of too much sectorinterference. However, when the inter site distance was long, case3×3could providebetter signal quality and higher user-average-throughput, which means case3×3is feasible in long inter site distance.
