The information tracking in producing leather goods is throughout the whole life of it. However, the traditional information tracking method, which usually input information manually or with printing signs, is a large yet environment-unfriendly wasteness of labor and material, and the signs may also be fuzzy due to the storage and transportation, thus turning down the information’s safety and reliability. Hence the combination of production information and direct labeling technology has become an inevitable trend with the production equipment and constraints of this leather manufacturing. This thesis discussed that when we use the CO2laser marking machine to mark Data Matrix2D-barcodes on the surface of the leather, how this four parameters--the effective vector step, the effective vector step delay,Q-frequency, Q release time--influence the quality of it.Firstly, I utilize single-variable control and image processing together to change a parameter consequently to measure each one’s influence on the contrast of2D-barcodes. And my conclusion is that the contrast of2D-barcodes increases with the incline of the effective vector step delay,Q-frequency,Q release time and the decline of the effective vector step.Secondly, considering the barcodes recognition and contrast, I utilize image processing and orthogonal test together with variance analysis and F test on experimental data to determine the optimal parameters combination. I also observe that the Q-frequency has a highly significant impact and the effective vector step has a significant impact on barcodes’contrast while the other two have no significant impact.Thirdly, taking into account the interaction between the various parameters, I utilize image processing, range analysis and orthogonal test together with the range analysis on experimental data to determine how two parameters’ interaction impact on the contrast of barcodes. Finally, I utilize the optimal parameters combination of2D-barcodes which is marked on the leather to tag the different sizes of them, and to conclude the effects of barcodes’ changing sizes on the their recognition when the marked barcodes’ contrast is constant, also to find out the minimum yet recognizable barcodes on the leather within optimal parameters. The researching finding of this thesis has an important effect for the application of laser marking2D-barcodes on the leather, with some instructions on the other materials.
